Profile of Internet Society of China
Internet Society of China (ISC), established on May 25th, 2001 with the office in Beijing, is one national non-profit society of companies and units on the internet industry in China on the voluntary basis, sponsored by more than 70 internet practitioners, including the network operators, services providers, equipment manufacturers and system integrators as well as science and educational institutions in China. ISC, with members of more than 1,000, is operated under the authority of Ministry of Industry and Information with Wu Hequan, former depute president of Chinese Academy of Engineering as the president.
ISC has the members of companies, units and societies on the internet industry duly established in accordance with the requirements of laws of China and intended to join ISC by complying with the articles of association.
At present there still remains much gas between the operation management of the data center and the rapid development of big data and cloud computing in China and no national uniform regulations and standards is made on the operation management of the data center. ISC Data Center Operation Work Team was established on Nov 8th, 2016 with the approval of ISC to strengthen the industrial management and to promote the sustainable and healthy development of the internet industry. The Work team is sponsored jointly by China Merchants Bank, 21Vianet Group, Inc., China Unicom, China Telecom, China Mobil, Alibaba, Tencent, Baidu, Huawei, Schneider, Eton and Emerson on the basis of the boards of directors of the facility forum of the Data Center.
The Work Team shall, under the guidance of ISC and support of members, strengthen the self construction after the establishment and promote the related national policies and formulate the industrial standards. It shall also work positively on the safety training, assessment and consultancy to improve the scientific safety management of the data center infrastructure of China.
